An understanding of leverages that are present in the jaws of a dog's mouth and 60 years of rubber technology has resulted in the creation of a virtually indestructible toy.
The GoughNuts Dog Chew Toy is a thick and very bouncy rubber ring that's made with two colors of rubber: an outer ring of green and an inner ring of red. The patented safety indicator lets you visually see if the toy has lost its structural integrity and should be taken away from the dog. So Green means Go! and Red means Stop! If your dog chews through to the red this is your indication to take the toy away from your dog and return it to the company for a replacement (excluding shipping costs).

About the black vs the Green
GoughNuts Black is our most popular chew toy as most dog owners that have a power chewer want the strongest available. This toy is stronger and more durable than our Original Green GoughNut. The GoughNuts Black incorporates the original GoughNuts green but then adds carbon technology to enhance performance. GoughNuts Black is reccomended for extreme chewers. The GoughNuts Black is guaranteed as is all of our GoughNuts line of chew toys.
The GoughNuts Black properties are higher. The hardness will hold your dogs jaw open more than the Green taking leverages away that lessen the dog's power. The higher tear strength and tensile strength testing show the GoughNut Black increase in physical properties.
Small vs Large
GoughNut.75 (small) is designed for the small to medium size dog. When sizing a chew toy please be sure that the chew toy appears large in the dogs mouth. In general the GoughNut .75 is designed for a dog that is 10 to 45 lbs in weight. However, if you medium or even your small dog is a heavy chewer please consider the Original Black GoughNut.
Guarantee
If your dog chews through the toy to the red center, you either need to dispose of the toy or return it to GoughNuts for a free replacement (there is a small charge to ship the new toy to you).
